The desktop GIS application is created using ESRI ArcGIS technology. It is created using ArcGIS for desktop 10.2.1. It is a stand-alone application that runs on the ESRI’s ArcReader. It runs locally from any media (RoofOfRock_GIS_viewer.pmf file), and only requires the ArcReader program to be installed on the computer. The installation file is available on portable media. The data is stored in the file geodatabase system and is also available on portable media.
The desktop GIS application displays the entire content and structure of the joint geodatabase (Fig. 6.4). The layers are structured and visualized using the project’s symbology scheme. All layers are queryable; with the use of the Identify tool the user can follow any relationship between any feature class or table.
