Limestone as the common denominator of natural and cultural heritage along the karstified part of the Adriatic coast

Platy limestone as a construction material gives the Eastern Adriatic coast much of it its common character. The project area as a whole has been lacking common guidelines for its sustainable use in urban planning and natural and cultural heritage protection.

The aim of the RoofOfRock project, co-financed from Adriatic IPA CBC Programme 2007-2013, is to establish a joint platform for sustainable platy limestone use, preservation and promotion, create relevant guidelines and to upgrade both individual and joint capacities in preserving this common natural and cultural heritage element along the karstified part of the Adriatic coast.
